There are many causes of functional neurological disorder

The exact cause of functional neurological disorder is not yet known, though it is believed to be due to a complex interaction of environmental, physical, and psychological factors. Research suggests that certain life events such as stressful experiences may trigger the development of an functional neurological disorder. Additionally, sleep deprivation or other disruptions in the body’s regular activities like exercise or diet may also contribute to its development. Finally, research shows that individuals with FND often have an existing neurological condition or other health problem likely adding complexity to diagnosis and treatment. All these disparate factors point to the need for further study in order to better understand this disorder and how best to help those who live with it day-to-day.

Functional neurological disorder (FND) is a type of neurological condition characterized by symptoms that involve the nervous system, such as movement disorders and changes in sensation, but with no obvious anatomical cause. It is also known as conversion disorder or functional movement disorder, and is believed to result from a combination of psychological and somatic factors. Symptoms can be similar to those seen in true neurological disorders yet can still lack an identifiable structural pathology.

Functional neurological disorder can present differently in individuals with similar presenting symptoms including changes in movement, such as tremor or dystonia. Other common symptoms may include altered sensation, vertigo, seizures and memory problems. People often report and experience changes in physical abilities such as an impairment of balance or the ability to move limbs without conscious control.

Functional neurological disorder (FND) is a complex, neurological condition that can have disabling effects. Treatment for FND involves an integrated approach consisting of chiropractic care, physiotherapy, massage therapy, occupational therapy, and cognitive behavioural therapy. Chiropractic care helps to relieve pain through manipulations and stretches. Physiotherapy assists in improving mobility and coordination by providing exercises tailored to each individual’s condition. Massage can help alleviate muscle tension as well as improve blood circulation which can lead to a reduction in symptoms associated with FND. Each treatment approach should be tailored to the individual needs of the patient in order to provide the best possible outcomes.

I cannot recommend Dr. Shannon Webster and Dr. Michael Torreiter enough. Both are super friendly and understanding and it has been an absolute pleasure to have met them and been treated by them.

I have been receiving treatment from Dr. Webster for a few months and I've been feeling much better. I had sever knee, shoulder and back pain. I couldn't squat or do push ups without my joints screaming at me. But now I'm not able to only do all those but also feel stronger. The most important piece is that she listened and took my history of many injuries into consideration. And as a dancer, I couldn't have asked for a better chiropractor who not only helped me feel better but also understood my needs.

I also brought my grandmother to Dr. Torreiter for her back pain for acupuncture. He was extremely kind, understanding, compassionate and everything that I could ask for. He made her feel comfortable and explained every step during each treatment. He made sure that she was well taken care of and also made other important referrals that lead to her recovery.

So far I have referred my whole family to these two wonderful individuals and everyone's experience has been equally great. Thanks to them we all are doing much better!
