Kara Tremblay, BASc, DDEPT, RD

When nutrition advice feels louder than your own needs, Kara Tremblay helps you find a clear and practical way forward.

You may be trying to support a child who eats only a small number of foods, wondering whether your family is getting the nutrition it needs, or managing a health concern while sorting through contradictory advice online. You deserve guidance that feels respectful and realistic—not another set of rules that leaves you more overwhelmed.

Kara Tremblay, BASc, DDEPT, RD is a Registered Dietitian who combines evidence-based nutrition care with a calm, non-judgmental approach. As a for nutrition counselling in Waterloo, she helps you understand what may be influencing eating, health, energy, and daily routines for you or your child, then turns that understanding into practical next steps. Kara’s particular depth in pediatric nutrition is supported by hands-on training in eating disorders, general pediatrics, nephrology, neonatal intensive care, and metabolic care. Just as importantly, she looks at the whole picture—food, movement, sleep, stress, mental well-being, relationships, development, and your environment—so your plan supports your life rather than competing with it.

Kara Tremblay, BASc, DDEPT, RD offers comprehensive dietetic care, with added depth where feeding, growth, and family health become especially complex.

Kara can support you with a broad range of nutrition concerns at every stage of life, from balanced eating and meal structure to digestive concerns, chronic disease management, and nutrition through menopause. Her role is not to judge what you eat or hand you a rigid template. It is to help you understand what your body and circumstances require, identify changes that are meaningful and achievable, and build skills you can keep using.

Kara combines broad dietetic knowledge with substantial pediatric experience. She understands that feeding concerns rarely exist in isolation. Your child’s growth, development, sensory experiences, medical needs, routines, emotional well-being, and the atmosphere around meals can all matter. By exploring these pieces together, Kara can help you move beyond surface-level advice and toward an approach that feels safer, more informed, and more sustainable.

Your nutrition plan begins with listening, then turns the science into changes that can genuinely fit your life.

When you meet with Kara, you can expect a thoughtful conversation about your concerns, goals, routines, preferences, health history, culture, schedule, and the barriers that may be making nutrition feel difficult. Through CARESPACE’s for nutrition and dietitian service, she uses evidence-based guidance to help you understand not only what may support your health, but why it matters and how to make it workable in everyday life.

Rather than focusing only on food lists, Kara looks for the reasons a recommendation may have been difficult to follow before. Your child may be responding to texture, smell, predictability, developmental needs, or stress around mealtimes. You may be balancing work, caregiving, symptoms, medication routines, budget, energy, and years of conflicting nutrition messages. Kara considers these realities as part of the plan.

At CARESPACE Uptown Waterloo, Kara can also work within a coordinated, multidisciplinary team when nutrition is only one part of what you are navigating. That collaboration helps keep care aligned around your priorities while recognizing the connections among physical health, mental well-being, movement, sleep, and family life.

Her education and clinical training give you guidance grounded in children’s health, family medicine, research, food systems, and real-world care.

Kara completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Human Nutrition, with an emphasis in Dietetics, at the University of Guelph, where she earned Dean’s Honour List recognition across six semesters. She then completed Western University’s Diploma in Dietetic Education and Practical Training, building experience across food provision, research, population health promotion, pediatric nutrition, and primary care.

Her rotations through Hamilton Health Sciences and McMaster Children’s Hospital included eating-disorder care, general pediatrics, nephrology, neonatal intensive care, and metabolic services. This exposure helps her understand how nutritional needs can change with age, development, medical complexity, growth, and recovery. She also participated in interdisciplinary rounds and provided nutrition education across inpatient, outpatient, and day-treatment settings, strengthening her ability to communicate clearly and work alongside other healthcare professionals.

Kara’s broader training included a hospital-wide oral nutrition supplement waste audit, research related to burn care, food-insecurity initiatives, and experience within a Family Health Team. She also holds a Food Handling Certificate, adding a practical food-safety foundation to her guidance. Together, these experiences help her balance clinical evidence with the realities of access, routines, food preparation, and daily life.

Whether feeding your child feels stressful or your own health needs attention, Kara knows how to make nutrition feel more manageable.

While Kara provides comprehensive nutrition care, pediatric nutrition is an area of particular interest and depth. You may be concerned about picky or challenging eating, a very limited range of accepted foods, sensory-related feeding difficulties, infant or toddler feeding, growth and development, disordered eating, or an adolescent’s relationship with food. Kara’s training in pediatric and eating-disorder settings helps her approach these concerns with care, curiosity, and respect for your child’s experience and your family’s needs.

Instead of treating difficult eating as simple refusal or lack of effort, Kara looks beneath the behaviour. She considers whether texture, taste, smell, fear, discomfort, developmental stage, medical factors, predictability, or pressure at meals may be shaping what is happening. From there, she works with you to identify practical strategies that support nutritional adequacy, reduce conflict, and help your child build confidence around food at a pace that respects individual needs. Her goal is not to force quick compliance, but to create the conditions for safer, calmer, and more positive progress.

When you are managing diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, fatty liver disease, irritable bowel syndrome, or nutrition concerns related to menopause, Kara brings the same focus on realistic change. You will learn how food choices may influence your health, which adjustments are most relevant to your goals, and how to build them into routines you already have. By replacing all-or-nothing thinking with focused, sustainable steps, Kara helps nutrition feel achievable and empowering rather than restrictive.

Across every concern, Kara keeps the wider picture in view. Food is connected to energy, mood, movement, sleep, relationships, development, culture, and access. Your plan should reflect those connections without losing the flexibility and enjoyment that make everyday life livable.

Her experience supporting young children and families reflects the patience, flexibility, and warmth she brings to every conversation.

Outside her formal dietetic training, Kara coordinated a kindergarten camp for children ages four to six, communicated closely with parents, guided youth volunteers, and adapted activities for children with autism, ADHD, and sensory needs. That experience reflects the qualities you will notice in her care: thoughtful preparation, calm communication, respect for individual differences, and a genuine commitment to creating an environment where you and your family feel understood.

You do not have to keep sorting through conflicting advice alone—book with Kara and begin building a calmer, clearer, and more sustainable relationship with food.

Book an appointment with Kara Tremblay today and take the first practical step toward nutrition care that respects your needs, supports your health, and fits the life you are actually living.
