Effective treatment for lumbar facet joint arthrosis
There are many causes of lumbar facet joint arthrosis
The exact cause of lumbar facet joint arthrosis is not known; however, it is believed to be due to age-related wear and tear of the cartilage that covers the edges of the bones in the joints. Other common causes include injury or stress on the ligaments and tendons supporting the spine, such as overexertion during strenuous physical activities. Treatment for this condition generally includes stretching exercises under chiropractic care and/or physiotherapy, manual therapy such as massage therapy, and proper rest.

Lumbar facet joint arthrosis, or degenerative joint disease, is a common condition that affects the small joints in the lower spine. It occurs when these facet joints, which provide both movement and stability to the back are damaged due to wear and tear, injury or age-related changes such as arthritis.
Symptoms of lumbar facet joint arthrosis include lower back pain when engaging in activities such as standing, walking, and climbing stairs. The pain can range from mild to severe and may worsen over time if left untreated. It is often accompanied by stiffness of the muscles, a reduced range of motion in the lumbar spine, as well as tingling, numbness or weakness in one’s lower extremities. Other symptoms may include difficulty bending forward or sideways, as well as sciatica-like sensations radiating down one or both legs. In some cases, anterior thigh pain and cramping can also occur. Seeing a doctor for an accurate diagnosis is essential for proper management of the condition before it progresses further.
Treatment for lumbar facet joint arthrosis typically involves chiropractic methods, physiotherapy, and massage therapy. Chiropractors can use specific techniques to address the spine’s alignment and ensure that surrounding soft tissues are in proper order. Physiotherapy is also often used as a means of providing relief from this condition, through core strengthening exercises and trigger points that affect the lower back muscles. Lastly, massage therapy has been known to provide relief through improved circulation in the affected areas, while strengthening underlying muscles to reduce tension on the joints. All these treatments aim to provide pain relief and improve mobility in those suffering from lumbar facet joint arthrosis.
Back pain is something that many people struggle with every day, but why does it occur in the first place? Common causes of back pain can include facet joint syndrome, herniated discs, lower back pain, lumbar radiculopathy, lumbar stenosis, osteoporosis, sciatica, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, trapezius strain, and upper back pain. It’s important to be aware of these potential sources of discomfort in order to reduce your risk for injury and make preventive lifestyle changes that will keep your back healthy and happy. Consultation with a qualified professional at CARESPACE can help determine the best solution to alleviate any discomfort experienced.

I have been receiving treatment from Dr. Webster for a few months and I've been feeling much better. I had sever knee, shoulder and back pain. I couldn't squat or do push ups without my joints screaming at me. But now I'm not able to only do all those but also feel stronger. The most important piece is that she listened and took my history of many injuries into consideration. And as a dancer, I couldn't have asked for a better chiropractor who not only helped me feel better but also understood my needs.
I also brought my grandmother to Dr. Torreiter for her back pain for acupuncture. He was extremely kind, understanding, compassionate and everything that I could ask for. He made her feel comfortable and explained every step during each treatment. He made sure that she was well taken care of and also made other important referrals that lead to her recovery.
So far I have referred my whole family to these two wonderful individuals and everyone's experience has been equally great. Thanks to them we all are doing much better!
