Effective treatment for high ankle sprains

There are many causes of a high ankle sprain
High ankle sprains can happen during physical activities such as running, dancing, playing sports, or simply stepping off a curb incorrectly. To treat a high ankle sprain and ensure full joint mobility and stability in the long run, chiropractors often recommend exercises and stretches to strengthen the affected area. Physiotherapy can also be beneficial in reinforcing correct movement patterns and preventing further injury, while massage therapy helps manage pain by releasing muscle tension and increasing circulation to the region. With integrated chiropractic care incorporating these three components, individuals can effectively reduce their risk of further rearfoot injuries.

A high ankle sprain is an injury to the ligaments that link the two bones of the lower leg, called tibia and fibula. This type of injury involves a more extensive injury than other sprains, such as a lateral or medial ankle sprain. High ankle sprains can cause pain in and around the joint, instability when walking, bruising, and swelling. Factors that can increase the risk of a high ankle sprain include activities that involve quick changes in direction or uneven surfaces.
Key symptoms of a high ankle sprain include physical indicators such as swelling and pain on the inner/upper side of the foot that is worse with movement, difficulty in performing weight-bearing activities, instability (or lack of control) when turning or twisting, and restricted ankle range of motion. Signs that are more difficult to detect could be pain and tenderness exacerbated by certain movements like pushing off from the toes when walking or pushing up from a seated position. Additionally, it may feel like there is increased tightness around the entire ankle– an overall decrease in flexibility compared to the uninjured foot.
Treating a high ankle sprain can be challenging and often requires a comprehensive approach. To start, chiropractic methods can help reduce pain and swelling and realign the ankle joint. In addition, manual massage therapy techniques may be recommended to help stretch soft tissues and promote healing. Physiotherapy is also an important part of treatment – strengthening exercises can help to build stability, while stretching exercises can help improve range of motion. Ultimately, if followed diligently, these treatments can alleviate pain and discomfort associated with a high ankle sprain and restore balance in the body.

I have been receiving treatment from Dr. Webster for a few months and I've been feeling much better. I had sever knee, shoulder and back pain. I couldn't squat or do push ups without my joints screaming at me. But now I'm not able to only do all those but also feel stronger. The most important piece is that she listened and took my history of many injuries into consideration. And as a dancer, I couldn't have asked for a better chiropractor who not only helped me feel better but also understood my needs.
I also brought my grandmother to Dr. Torreiter for her back pain for acupuncture. He was extremely kind, understanding, compassionate and everything that I could ask for. He made her feel comfortable and explained every step during each treatment. He made sure that she was well taken care of and also made other important referrals that lead to her recovery.
So far I have referred my whole family to these two wonderful individuals and everyone's experience has been equally great. Thanks to them we all are doing much better!
